Some may be expecting this, but most were expecting much more or at least something fisically diferent. But the new iPad is basically a great upgrade, in software, velocity and display resolution, of the previous one.

Retina Display, HD screen or AMOLED screen?
A Retina Display may be be one of the features Apple is preparing and that would be very appreciated by all the fans. In the opinion of FBR Capital Markets analyst Craig Berger, the iPad 2 Plus (or iPad 3) will have a much higher resolution display than the iPad 2. Apple shell increase the device’s pixel density and bump the device up to 2.048 x 1.336 resolution (the actual one has 1.024 x 768 resolution.)

At least a dual, mas possibly a quad-core processor
Some observers, based on assumed Apple employee information’s, predict that an iPad 3 may arrive in September, considering that the iPad 2 was made with some rush, and that in a couple months we will see the real thing…
Reuters has reported that the new iPad 3 is due in the fourth quarter of the year, and Digitimes indicated that the taiwanese-based component suppliers are already gearing up for production of iPad 3, at the same time that for the iPhone 5.
According to Digitimes, Apple shall ship 60 million iPads in 2012. If that really happens, Apple would become the top manufacturer of PCs (if desktops, laptops and iPads are included).
